Fraser Lake RCMP seeking public assistance following telecommunications wire theft

Fraser Lake RCMP is investigating the theft of telecommunications wire that disrupted Telus services, including a temporary interruption to 911 emergency services.

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Fraser Lake RCMP received a report from Telus that a section of telecommunications line had been cut along Louisville Road. Telus determined the damage occurred at approximately 1:06 p.m.

The damage resulted in an interruption of numerous Telus services in the area, including access to 911 emergency services for a period of time. Preliminary estimates place the cost of the damage and repairs at approximately $20,000.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who has information regarding this theft, to contact the Fraser Lake RCMP.
